Week 3: Mind-Mapping + Workshop

Mind-Mapping

I created a contextual mind-map of my research/knowledge of the wintergardens leading up to Week 3, through the historical, social, cultural, technological, environmental, material, sensorial, and aural context. I also noted the connections between these points.

We then wrote down five keywords we resonated with in the space, and expanded on those keywords:

The green postnote on the corner is my feedback from my group in our Week 4 activity. Their feedback really helped me finalise my five keywords.

Workshop

I referred to the images I had taken during my site visit, and noticed that there were recurring patterns in the space. So I tried playing with this idea while also taken note of the constant semi circle shapes. I eventually sketched out this drawing for the following workshops:

During the laser-cutting workshop, I sketched out my drawing on Rhino, before exporting it onto Illustrator. I then took the Illustrator file to the laser cutter, and had it lasercut onto a piece of cardboard:

While laser cutting my design, some of the lines I had drawn out had completely been cut off by the laser cutter, leaving holes into my design. Although this was not intentional, I was happy with how this little accident turned out:
